1973 Avanti II Coupe
VIN: RQB1932
When Studebaker ceased operations in 1963, the popular sports coupe, Avanti, continued production under the Avanti name-plate from left-over Studebaker components. When the Avanti Car Company came into existence in 1964, the Avanti II was produced using General Motors and Ford chassis and engines. Limited and sometimes interrupted production of the Avanti II continued through 2006 in various forms and models but are sought by collectors the world over.
The Avanti II presented today at auction is a fine, original car that benefited from a re-paint in its original color. The odometer shows 99K miles and the car presents very well as a driver. The leather interior is original and shows well for a 52 year old car. The car has factory Air Conditioning. The power windows work just like they should and all dash components are operational. Cruise Control and the windshield washer will need attention. The car is powered by a 400 cu.in. Corvette engine which is mated to a 3 Speed Automatic Transmission. The tool carrying bag is present in the trunk and the trunk lid features a luggage rack which is rare for the car. Recent electrical work. Long-term Montana ownership with the car having not been driven in inclement/winter weather.
